A person with an annual income of $50k pays: $36/year to subsidize food stamps. $907/year to subsidize corporate loopholes. It's not about "taking care of our own." It's about pitting the lower & middle class against each other over pennies while we all pay billions in corporate welfare.

Many immigrants have come into our country, stood on their own two feet, never asked for anything but the chance to fill jobs unwanted by our citizens, paid taxes (yes they do) and pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. All of Mr Cucchinelli’s requirements. Only to be rounded up, separated from family, denied due process and sent to a country of origin which has become unfamiliar and foreign to them. These are people we need here and immigration reform must include that they be protected.

Can't the UN or some other world organization step in and DO something about this administration and everything they are doing? His ilk are NOT the majority here, yet the majority ARE being held hostage by his administration and his far right-wing Senate.

Just curious where this guys roots are from considering his last name. I don’t recall any of our native folks last name being Cuccinelli?🤔

Lets see now, didn’t trumps own father emigrate to the US?? And besides that these types of changes to the rules are why president trump and his government, party are called blatantly racist!! Just consider this,if those changes had been in place when the country was just starting then there would be nobody there except for First Nations people. For goodness sake people this is probably how apartheid started up or close to it!!! All the people who gave their lives in WWII would roll over in their graves at the disgusting manner that this present government is abusing people’s rights & dignities(including those fleeing countries where their lives are in danger).😪😪

The public charge concept was first established by Congress in 1882 in order to allow the U.S. government to deny a U.S. visa to anyone who “is likely at any time to become a public charge”

The author of this article was VERY misleading with the title, probably to draw people in to read it. Which is unfortunate. The biggest problem that people aren't seeing is this quote: "No one has a right to become an American who isn't born here as an America" It is scary that this guy doesn't know the pilgrims weren't born here and killed off almost the entire population of NATIVE Americans... Basically explaining how unamerican this bill is is how hes justifying how American it is..

I can't figure out if this is real or not...

So, if any of you took the time to actually read the article, and the quote, instead of just someone's angry interpretation, you would have noticed that no one actually altered any sacred poems or quotes, or even suggested it be done...one person, not Trump, either, added his own commentary... Something called free speech...yet hundreds are freeking out over the title and the author's intentionally misleading statement... Don't you see how bad it makes Demacrats as a whole look when it seems you aren't able to think for yourselves, instead of blindly following someone else's propaganda... READ THE ARTICLE!!! ITS RIGHT THERE....this guy did none of us any favors by proving he can shape opinion with lies....Isn't there is enough ammo out there without having to manufacture it?

How can you get worse than despicable?? The scary thing is this man over both democratic and republican administrations held positions where he masked his bigotry, racism and white privilege-nationalists-supremacy beliefs. He has been unshackled and unleashed by trump. Whose next?? The sad reality is in the furtherance of white privilege-nationalism this behavior is acceptable. Idi Amin was said to be a cannibal because he ate the flesh of his enemies , what does this say about republicans??

What about migrant workers who are paid wages so low that citizens won't work for that money? They are working but need subsidy because of this low wage. We all benefit because our produce is less expensive. That burden is on the backs of those workers. Some are undocumented.

I am not a trump supporter but why is everyone in a uproar? This monument was intend for the celebration of Slavery ending in America from France. It was NOT intended as a welcome mat for new coming immigrants . Just because it was the first thing you saw coming in, does not me it was meant for you. They "revamp" it into the "give me your poor and hungry" bit. Now they are revamping it again.

Mark Fleckenstein commented

Does trump (who doesn’t read) plan any more revisions? Maybe re-work some historical facts to align them with the administration’s world view, like 1) abolishing ant record that shows the US engage in the slave trade or that any Africans who came to the US during that time, did so, willingly. 2) The Civil War more of a disagreement, not an actual war. 2) Manifest Destiny was really welcomed by Native Americans, and never resulted in the killing of Native Americans. All treaties were the Native American’s idea. 3)The Cold War - never really happened. All the countries supposedly under Russian control, did so willingly and it was their idea to align their fortunes with Russia. US won the so-called “arms race” which was finally put aside when Ronald Reagan beat Gorbachev at arm wrestling, ending the arms race.
